Tank Stratification and Boiler Plant Performance; Boiler Average Time in Fault

Many in the biomass heat industry aim for stratification in (thermal) storage.  DCM Logic’s data show that tank stratification is uncorrelated with boiler plant performance, as defined by the percentage of time that the boiler plant is providing the specified water temperature.  Also, some boilers spend an average of 45 minutes to 2 hours in fault per day.  That’s time when they’re not providing heat.  For more information, download DCM Logic’s slides from the 2016 NE Biomass Heating Expo in Burlington, VT.
